Introduction: Obesity is a significant health problem that is associated with a multitude of adverse health effects across the human lifetime. Obesity is defined as an excess of body mass fat with a Body Mass Index (BMI) >30. The prevalence of obesity is on the rise world-wide in both adults and children.1 Overweight and obesity are risk factors for type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure which can lead to stroke, joint problems, sleep apnea, gallstones and certain cancers.2 According to the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2013–2014, in the United States, more than a third of adults were considered overweight and more than a third obese, with 1 in 13 considered extremely obese.
