BRS: What official and practical role you play at WHO?
GGK: I am designated as technical officer in the Traditional Complementary and Integrative Medicine (TCI) unit at WHO headquarters. The TCI unit is placed within the Service Delivery Department of WHO, which is a part of the Universal Health Coverage and Health systems cluster of WHO. Our unit chief is Dr. Zhang Qi, department head is Dr. Edward Kelley, and cluster chief (Assist. Director General) is Dr. Naoka Yamamoto.
I manage the programs which fall under the purview of the WHO-AYUSH ministry MOUs (Memorandums of Understanding) and also help the TCI unit chief and the department director to fulfill essential tasks and run programs which are supportive of the WHO Traditional Medicine Strategy 2014–2023, and which promote integrated people-centric health care.
