Introduction Poststreptococcal reactive arthritis (PSRA) has symptoms similar to acute rheumatic fever where the person exhibits reactive arthritis characterized by a pharyngeal streptococcal infection and subsequent aseptic inflammation of one or more joints. Both PSRA and acute rheumatic fever occur after streptococcal throat infections and are associated with symptoms of arthritis, but PSRA does not require
antibiotic to prevent recurrence.
