Abstract

Kaya Avastha can be translated as a state of fatigue, loss of strength or emaciation. Interchangeably, it is at times termed as Ojo Ksaya. Literature review reveals that the level of bala (strength) and the ability of the body to enhance its state of bala varies from person to person, in relation to time, external environment and the seasons. Importantly, it’s directly influenced by ahara (diet) and vihara (lifestyle).

 

Through the course of this article, a review of presenting pathologies and associated signs and symptoms is undertaken. In addition, a cadre of management protocols with a focus on ahara, vihara and home remedies are suggested. The superlative essence of all the dhatus is known as ojas and its effect on the human body manifests as Bala. Ojas manifests as Bala in the body. Bala represents as strength and body physically. Penultimately it also represents the body’s inherent immunological state, coupled with the ability to resist disease and recover from disease state.
